Saudi Arabia Wins International Olympiad in Cryptography Bronze Medal for Professionals Held in Russia

Riyadh, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has won the bronze medal at the International Olympiad in Cryptography (NSUCRYPTO) at the level of professionals, which Russia hosted its eighth edition between October 17 and 25, 2021, marking a new confirmation for its digital entrepreneurship and excellence.

The initial results were announced late December, while the final results were accredited for the winning teams in mid-January.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was the only Arab team participating in the event that witnessed a strong competition from 85 teams representing various countries.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in this international event that is considered among the most important international competitions in cryptography, was represented by a team affiliated with the Center of Excellence for Information Assurance at the King Saud University and was composed of young national competences of Eng. Ahmad Al-Harbi, Eng. Mohammed Al-Rabeeah, and Eng. Mohammed Al-Ammar.

The three engineers referred to the unlimited support received by the technical sector from His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, and his keenness to enhance entrepreneurship and technical excellence of the homeland in a way that helps improve national capabilities in all the technical and digital fields, which contributed to realizing this important achievement.

They also extended their gratitude and appreciation to the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming and Drones and federation-affiliated Tuwaiq Academy for what they offered of specialized courses in cryptography, which had a big impact in increasing the level of rehabilitation of national personnel in this vital sector, which reflected on realizing positive results in the competition.

This achievement is added to a series of accomplishments that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has realized to support progress in the research and development aspects in cyber fields, mainly cryptography.

NSUCRYPTO is considered the only of its kind in the cryptography and seeks to attracts interested people in solving complicated and useful mathematical problems for modern cryptography applications, where more than 2,500 competitors from over 50 countries have participated in the event since its launch in 2014.
