Saudi Hind Al-Showaier Elected Regional Director of World Federation of the Deaf

Riyadh, The World Federation of the Deaf has elected Hind Al-Showaier, deaf and sign language program officer at King Salman Center for Disability Research, as regional director of the Federation for the Arab region. The election came during the second meeting of the General Assembly of the Regional Secretariat, which was hosted by the UAE Deaf Association in Abu Dhabi.

During the meeting, a new three-member board for the regional secretariat for the Arab region was elected: Al-Showaier from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as regional director, Iman Al-Soubani from Jordan and Faisal Al-Mirri from Qatar as elected members.

Al-Showaier is a deaf girl who is among prominent names in the field of the rights of deaf and sign language, in addition to her being member in several regional and international organizations, including Regional Director for the Arab Region of World Federation of the Deaf since 2014 till now, member of Saudi Society for Hearing Impairment, member of World Federation of the Deaf, and member of World Association of Sign Language Interpreters.
