SCC Committee Discusses Draft Laws on Military and Police Organisation.


SHARJAH: The Legislative and Legal Affairs, Appeals, Suggestions and Complaints Committee of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) engaged in discussions over two significant draft laws concerning the emirate’s military and police sectors. The first draft law addresses the organisation of human resources for the military, while the second pertains to the reorganisation of the police and security force within Sharjah.

According to Emirates News Agency, the draft law regarding military human resources was forwarded to the committee during the last session of the Consultative Council. The draft law concerning the police and security force reorganisation was referred by the Public Utilities Committee of the Council. The meeting was conducted at the SCC headquarters in Sharjah under the leadership of Mohammed Ali Al Hammadi, Chairman of the Legislative and Legal Affairs, Appeals, Suggestions and Complaints Committee.

The gathering saw the participation of several committee members, including Mohammed Saleh Al A
li, Hamad Abdullah Al Riyami, Rashid Saleh Al Hammadi, and Obaid Ishaq Al Mazmi. Additionally, members of the General Secretariat of the Council were present, such as Yousef Hassan Al Ali, the Council’s Legal Advisor and Director of the Parliamentary Affairs Department, and Saif bin Suwaif Al Ketbi, Secretary.

During the session, the committee meticulously reviewed the texts and articles of the two draft laws. The discussions aimed at organising matters pertinent to human resources for military personnel, focusing on the public interest of those employed in the military sector. The committee also examined the draft law for reorganising the police and security force, highlighting provisions aimed at enhancing systems and instructions to improve security performance in line with Sharjah’s future vision.

The committee articulated its views on the draft laws, emphasizing the necessity of aligning the legal framework with the evolving needs of the military and security sectors in Sharjah. The aim is to support p
rofessional excellence and accommodate future challenges.

Concluding the meeting, the committee finalised its report on the two draft laws, which is now set to be submitted to the SCC for inclusion in the agenda of the forthcoming meeting.
