Senate president calls for int’l effort to end Israeli crimes against Palestinians

President of the Senate Faisal Fayez called for an international effort to stop the heinous crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces against children, women and defenseless civilians in the Gaza Strip and West Bank cities. During a meeting on Monday with the Spanish Ambassador Miguel de Lucas, Fayez called for holding an international peace conference that would end the Arab-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution and resolutions of international legitimacy. He underscored that there will only be security and stability in the region by resolving the Palestinian issue in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the two-state solution and empowering the Palestinian people with their legitimate rights by establishing an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. He underlined the need to stop the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and the rejection of violence and the killing of civilians. Israel’s policy of forced displacement, systematic killing, scorched earth policy, cutting off water and electricity, starving the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip, sieging Palestinian cities, and using internationally banned weapons violates all international laws and human rights principles, and will not give it security and stability, he added. He pointed out that the unlimited international support for Israel and the continued supply of weapons to it at the expense of Palestinian blood, in light of the international silence regarding Israeli practices, will push the region and the world toward more violence.
