SFD President receives First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan

Riyadh, CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, received here today, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Adylbek Kasymaliev, and the accompanying delegation, to discuss development projects funded by the SFD in Kyrgyzstan.

Al-Marshad said during the meeting, that issues of common interest related to development projects funded by the Fund in Kyrgyzstan were discussed, in addition to discussing the projects being implemented, and ways to enhance possible vital opportunities in the development sectors.

Kasymaliev expressed his appreciation to the Kingdom for its contributions and support for development projects for more than 12 years in Kyrgyzstan through the Saudi Fund for Development.

He praised the close bilateral ties, noting that the Fund is a development partner in supporting Kyrgyzstan. He also hailed the SFD delegation’s visit to Kyrgyzstan in September, which aimed to lay the foundation stone for the project to rehabilitate and expand the Children’s Emergency General Hospital in the capital, Bishkek, in addition to the opening of a school as part of a project to build 30 public schools funded by SFD in Kyrgyzstan.

Saudi Arabia has provided, through the SFD, eight development projects and programs in the form of soft development loans to support vital sectors including transportation, communications, education, health, water, and sanitation, with a total value of $200 million. The Fund also provided a $4 million grant to support the equipping of several medical centers in Kyrgyzstan.
