Shanghai to Host Fifth Leg of 2026 Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup

Shanghai:The fifth leg of the 2026 Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup (EAHGC) is set to commence tomorrow at the Shanghai Juss International Equestrian Centre, featuring 81 horses representing around 35 owners. This event forms part of the international series organized by the UAE to support and promote the purebred Arabian horse sector as an integral element of Emirati heritage and national identity.

According to Emirates News Agency, the EAHGC series is overseen by Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Arabian Horse Society and Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee. The series, now in its third edition, includes several legs across various continents, showcasing the UAE's dedication to elevating the profile of Arabian horses globally and expanding opportunities for owners and breeders to participate internationally.

The Cup aims to preserve the global standing of purebred Arabian horses by creating a specialized international platform that facilitates competition and participation worldwide. It also seeks to improve the quality of services for Arabian horses and promote best practices in care and breeding, thereby reinforcing the sustainability and global presence of this authentic heritage.

The Shanghai leg is part of the 2026 Shanghai International Horse Culture Carnival, which blends sporting competitions with public activities. The carnival includes four major international equestrian events: show jumping, dressage, young riders' competitions, and polo, as well as the Shanghai International Horse Exhibition and an educational exhibit on horse culture.

During the two-day competition, classes will be held for colts and fillies of various age groups, alongside mares and stallions, culminating in championship finals across different categories. The event is expected to attract a large audience of owners, breeders, and Arabian horse enthusiasts from across China.

The hosting of the competition in China highlights the cooperation between the Emirates Arabian Horse Society and the Chinese Arabian Horse Association, supported by a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing collaboration, exchanging expertise, and advancing care services for purebred Arabian horses and their breeders in accordance with international standards.
