Sharjah: The Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work (SAVW) has announced that it is now accepting registrations for its 22nd edition, aiming to recognize individuals and institutions that have made significant contributions in various fields of volunteer work.
According to Emirates News Agency, nominations are being accepted from November 1 until December 31, 2024, through their official website. Volunteers from institutions and individuals will compete across 11 categories. The arbitration and evaluation processes will follow the submission of applications to select the winners for the 22nd session, with the results announced during the award ceremony in 2025.
Fatima Musa Al Belushi, Executive Director of SAVW, noted that the award emphasizes diversity and inclusiveness in supporting volunteer efforts in the community, encouraging more participation and innovation in volunteer work. Participants will compete for awards such as ‘Best Volunteer Opportunity Creator’ and ‘Distinguished Volunteer Supporter Award’, am
ong others.
Additionally, the award includes categories like ‘Best Volunteer Initiative Award’, ‘Record Number of Volunteer Hours Award’, and ‘University Student Award for the Highest Volunteer Participation’. There are also awards for school students, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities, highlighting various contributions to community service.
Dr. Jassim Mohammed Al Hammadi, Secretary General of SAVW, emphasized the importance of enhancing development programs to support volunteer work in Sharjah. He highlighted that the emirate has been a pioneer in launching initiatives to strengthen the volunteer work system. Al Hammadi praised the efforts of the award’s executive management and encouraged individuals and institutions to participate in the current edition to foster a spirit of volunteering.
