Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Al Dhaid, met on Thursday with an academic delegation from the University of Liverpool at the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre in the university city of Sharjah. During the meeting, His Highness welcomed the delegation and discussed the extensive cooperation between Sharjah universities and prestigious institutions worldwide, particularly in the United Kingdom. This collaboration aims to enhance scientific expertise, develop educational standards for professors and students, and fulfill the emirate’s educational goals.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting also highlighted His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah’s educational vision, which is rooted in strategic plans that have established an integrated educational environment in Sharjah. These plans have led to the creation of institutions that offer specialized education across all university degrees, setting a benchmar
k for higher education quality, management, and employment, as well as selecting appropriate specializations and applying top standards for the benefit of students.
The significance of leveraging scientific and academic experiences in the local environment, especially in applied university studies, such as agricultural, medical, and health sciences, was also discussed. The focus is on guiding students towards scientific research to gain relevant experience.
The cooperation between the University of Dhaid and the University of Liverpool in the veterinary medicine program, recognized as one of the UK’s best according to recent international classifications, was reviewed. This program will be part of the University of Dhaid’s academic offerings.
The University of Liverpool delegation expressed gratitude to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for the cooperation opportunities with Sharjah’s universities, fostering mutual benefits across various academic fields. At the end of the meeting, His Highness presented
the University of Dhaid shield to the delegation and received a souvenir from the University of Liverpool.
The meeting was attended by several dignitaries, including Eng. Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Public Works Department; Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA); Dr. Hamid Majul Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah; Dr. Aisha Bushlaibi, Chancellor of the University of Dhaid; Professor Paul Lawon, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences at the University of Liverpool; and other academic officials from both universities.
