Sharjah Ruler Welcomes Founding Delegation of ALA Beirut

Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the Sharjah Arabic Language Academy (ALA), met with a delegation of the founding members of ALA in Beirut, Lebanon. The delegation, led by Dr Emile Badi Yaqub and Dr Rashid Darbas, was welcomed at the Dr Sultan Al Qasimi Centre in University City.

According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan congratulated the delegation on the establishment of the Arabic Language Academy in Beirut and its collaboration with Sharjah. He highlighted Lebanon's significant contributions to Arabic culture and literature and the notable achievements of its scholars and writers.

H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan expressed his commitment to supporting the Academy in achieving its goals related to preserving the Arabic language and promoting its historical and cultural significance. He also emphasized the importance of fostering collaboration between Arabic language academies across the Arab world to serve their common objectives, including documentation, publication, scientific research, and cultural exchange.

During the discussion, the role of the Sharjah Arabic Language Academy in linking with other Arabic language academies globally was highlighted. H.H. the Ruler of Sharjah reiterated the Academy's dedication to supporting these institutions, which is crucial for promoting the Arabic language and connecting new generations to it through various initiatives and publications.

The Beirut delegation expressed their gratitude for the support from H.H. the Ruler of Sharjah, acknowledging the comprehensive projects initiated by the Emirate of Sharjah in the fields of Arabic language, literature, and arts. They noted the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language as a significant achievement in lexicography.

As the meeting concluded, H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan received a commemorative shield and publications from the delegation, marking the occasion with commemorative photographs.
