Sheikha Fatima receives Turkish first lady Emine Erdogan


H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) (Mother of the Nation), today received Emine Erdogan, the wife of President of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is currently visiting the country as part of her country’s delegation to the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which kicked off yesterday at Expo City Dubai.

Sheikha Fatima welcomed Emine Erdogan, wishing a successful visit for her and her country’s delegation to COP28.

During the meeting, they reviewed the strong friendship ties binding the two friendly countries and peoples, and ways to develop them in the best interest of the two sides.

Sheikha Fatima and Emine Erdogan expressed their hopes that the leaders of the world’s countries would succeed in developing a clear, quick and responsible road plan to preserve the planet
from the climate changes it faces and the importance of everyone’s contribution to qualitative projects and initiatives that mitigate the severity of climate changes.

They also exchanged cordial talks regarding women’s and childhood affairs, ways to support them through appropriate programmes to serve the development of society and enhance opportunities for growth and prosperity in it, and ways to enhance cooperation between the competent institutions in these fields in the two countries.

In turn, Emine Erdogan extended thanks and appreciation for the warm welcome and generosity during her visit to the country.

Sheikha Fatima hosted a banquet in honour of Emine Erdogan. A number of Sheikha and the delegation accompanying the wife of the Turkish President attended the meeting and the Luncheon.
