Somalia, US Sign Grant Agreement to Promote Development

The Somali government signed Tuesday a grant agreement with the United States, worth $68.5 million, to develop development in the country. The agreement was signed by Mahmoud Abdulrahman Farah, Minister of Planning, Investment and Economic Development, on the Somali side, and Catie Lott, Head of the US Agency for International Development in Somalia, on the American side. The agreement affirms Somalia's commitment to economic development and social issues through strategic partnerships, and will address key areas such as economic growth, governance reform, health and education, women's empowerment, youth, and support for the vision of Somalia's resilience. This grant will also work to increase government capacity and community participation and create economic opportunities for women and youth. Source: Qatar News Agency
