Sri Lankan President Expresses Gratitude to UAE for Flood Relief Assistance

Sharjah: UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received a phone call from His Excellency Anura Kumara Dissanayake, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. During the call, President Dissanayake expressed his appreciation for the UAE's ongoing humanitarian aid to communities affected by the recent floods and heavy rainfall in Sri Lanka. According to Emirates News Agency, His Highness extended his condolences to President Dissanayake and the Sri Lankan people over the loss of life caused by the floods. He also conveyed his wishes for the country's safety and resilience in overcoming these challenges. The UAE's prompt response is part of its established humanitarian approach focused on providing timely assistance to communities impacted by natural disasters. The initiative aims to alleviate the immediate burden on affected populations and contribute to their long-term recovery. Emergency relief operations were quickly initiated through the Joint Operations Command, the UAE Agency for International Aid, and the Emirates Red Crescent. These efforts included search and rescue missions in the hardest-hit areas, conducted by teams from Abu Dhabi Civil Defence, alongside the delivery of crucial supplies such as essential food items and emergency shelter materials for displaced families.
