Standards Authority issues consumer safety guidebook


The Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control issued a consumer guidance and awareness booklet entitled ‘Consumer Safety…General Guidelines’.

The booklet contains advisory and awareness topics directed to the consumer with the aim of preserving health and safety, centered around the manifestations of food spoilage, the most important data that must be recorded on the product label, methods of preserving food, and advice when purchasing it.

The Authority’s Executive Director General, Sam Al-Bashiri, stated in the introduction to the booklet that it came based on the Authority’s tasks and powers and its legal responsibility for consumer protection, and within the framework of the awareness campaigns it carries out in a number of media outlets to preserve the health and safety of consumers.

He explained that the booklet aims to introduce the importance of the numbers , symbols on plastic containers, methods of preventing domestic gas leakage, and instructions for electrical energy,
among others.
