Sharjah: H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UOS), attended the graduation ceremony for the Spring 2026 class at the University City Hall on Saturday. The event marked a significant milestone for 737 students graduating from the university's Colleges of Medicine and Health Sciences.
According to Emirates News Agency, the ceremony commenced with the UAE national anthem and a recitation from the Holy Quran. Dr Issam Al-Din Ibrahim Ajami, the Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, delivered an address highlighting the critical role of medicine and health sciences as a humanitarian mission. He drew inspiration from Abu Qasim Al Zahrawi, a pioneering Muslim scholar, to underscore the importance of translating scientific knowledge into meaningful contributions to human welfare.
Dr Ajami emphasized the vision of the university's founder, His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, in establishing the medical colleges complex. This vision aims to prepare highly qualified medical and healthcare professionals to serve the local community and the broader region. He noted that the university's programs, such as Dentistry and Pharmacy, are ranked globally, reflecting the high quality of education provided.
Graduate Aryam Khamis Al Naqbi, delivering the valedictory address, expressed immense joy at reaching this milestone. She acknowledged the support of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi and H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi for their visionary leadership and commitment to education. Al Naqbi stressed the importance of using the knowledge gained to serve humanity and uphold professional values.
Graduate Ahmed Faisal Al Hammadi, representing the Colleges of Health Sciences, echoed similar sentiments. He emphasized the beginning of a new phase of responsibility for the graduates and expressed gratitude to the Ruler of Sharjah and the university's President for their unwavering support. Al Hammadi highlighted the role of education in instilling professional values and urged graduates to honor their responsibilities in the healthcare field.
The ceremony concluded with H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi presenting diplomas to the graduates and congratulating them on their achievements. Graduates also took their professional oath, pledging dedication and sincerity in their medical and healthcare duties. The Spring 2026 cohort included graduates from various colleges within the university, setting a foundation for future contributions to the healthcare sector.
