Damascus, Dr. Mohammad Osama al-Jabban, Rector of Damascus University, discussed on Wednesday with Chargé d’affaires of the Austrian Embassy in Damascus, Pro. Peter Kreuz, means of cooperation between Damascus University and Austrian universities, particularly the cooperation with the German Language Department at the university.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the possibility of providing assistance to the German Language Department at Damascus University by the the Austrian side through training the teaching staff and providing the department with books and cultural publications and organizing scientific visits to extend scientific and cultural cooperation between the two sides.
For his part Dr. Al-Jabban asserted the university’s desire to develop its programs and curricula and open new specializations that keep pace with the developments of modern science.
Head of the German Language Department at Damascus University, Dr. Jihad Abboud, highlighted the need for the Austrian side to support the department, as Kreuz expressed the Austrian embassy’s readiness to support the department’s needs.
