Damascus, Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said on Wednesday that the infiltration of US delegation and Swedish official illegitimately into Syrian territories is a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty.
“The infiltration of US delegation, headed by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Ethan Goldrich to the north-Eastern part of Syria and the illegitimate infiltration of official in charge of Consular Affairs department and Civil Law at Swedish Foreign Ministry into Syrian territories is a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty, UN charter, international law principles and UN Security council’s relevant resolutions,” the Ministry said in two identical messages addressed to President of Security council and UN Secretary General.
The Ministry added that the cheap allegation that those visits aim to alleviate the suffering of Syrians resident in those regions and ease repercussions of the crisis is shame on its allegers and an uncovered lie to be added to the hypocrisy method marketed by the US administration.
“Syria stresses its condemnation of such practices and affirms its determination to establish the State’s sovereignty on all its territories, liberate them from all forms of occupation, its right to defend the country and protect its citizens,” Foreign Ministry said.
It added that Syria calls on the international community and the UN to condemn Western countries’ relations with the outlaw groups.
