Syrian-Armenian talks to boost parliamentary relations

Damascus, People’s Assembly Speaker, Hammouda Sabbagh, described as deeply-rooted and strong the relations between Syria and Armenia, stressing the importance of enhancing them, particularly in the parliamentary field.

Sabbagh met Ambassador of Armenia in Damascus, Dikran Kevorkian, saying that the Syrian People’s Assembly has issued a historic resolution condemning the Turkish massacres committed against the Armenians, indicating the high status that Armenians enjoy in Syria.

Sabbagh added that the Turkish regime is repeating its crimes in Syria through occupying lands and looting resources of wheat, oil, and antiquities, in a barbaric manner and in violation of charters of the international legitimacy.

For his part, the Armenian ambassador referred to the history and common denominators which bring together the people of the two friendly countries extending for more than a thousand years.

He said that Syria has a special status among the Armenians, expressing his country’s willingness to activate the parliamentary and popular relations between the two countries.
