Abu dhabi: A technical fault in the air traffic control system on Tuesday led to the cancellation of nearly 1,100 flights to and from UK airports, creating widespread disruption for travelers.
According to Emirates News Agency, by 19:00 GMT, a total of 1,055 flights had been cancelled as reported by flight-tracking website Flightradar24. The cancellations caused significant inconvenience for passengers and airlines alike.
The UK's air traffic control provider, NATS, announced that the fault had been resolved and that operations had returned to normal. Despite this, NATS explained that the recovery process had taken longer than anticipated, resulting in a backlog of flights. The organization issued an apology to passengers for the disruptions caused by the technical issue.
