The High National Elections Commission announced that it is preparing to complete the first stage of the municipal council election process, represented by the (linking) stage, which requires citizens who wish to include their names in the register of voters for the municipal elections to link their phone numbers to their national numbers. So that the voter registration system can accept their registration applications in the next stage, which is (voter registration), which will be announced at that time.
The Commission Council explained in a statement on Monday: That registration in the register of voters for municipal council elections is a new registration and completely separate from the register of voters for general elections, and the awareness and guidance means that will be published in the various media and social media will be indicated; The technical steps necessary to carry out the connection process, and how to overcome the difficulties that the citizen may face at this stage.
The statement ca
lled on all official and unofficial state institutions, political, social and media elites, and civil society organizations to support the efforts of the Commission by contributing to spreading awareness of the requirements of the connection process that will enable citizens to qualify for the subsequent stages of the electoral process in general, and the voter registration stage in particular.
The statement called on everyone who is qualified to exercise their right to vote by casting their vote to choose who will represent them in the Municipal Council, which is considered the ‘cornerstone’ of construction and reconstruction, and to establish the foundations of stability, and to seek, as the highest electoral authority in the country, to consolidate the positive democratic civilizational image of the Libyan citizen’s participation in Building the future of their country, and that it will spare no effort to enable them to exercise their right to vote, and will work with all its capabilities to provide all m
eans that will facilitate their positive participation, and work to strengthen the spirit of citizenship and belonging.
According to its statement, the Council of the High National Elections Commission also called on the government to support the process of electing municipal councils aimed at creating stability in the rules of the administrative and service structure of the state, and to issue its urgent decision regarding providing the necessary financial coverage to implement this process.
