The President of the Republic: Free media is the society’s eye on officials, monitors mistakes and marks achievements

Baghdad, The President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, affirmed that he supports free media, as it is the eye of society on the steps of officials, monitors mistakes and marks the achievements in all fields.

He said, during a meeting with a group of academics, political and media analysts, today, Thursday: that Iraq is one of the richest countries with its natural, agricultural and human resources, and these resources are capable of building a new and developed Iraq.

He added: He pays great attention to the issue of water because of its direct impact on the lives of Iraqis, pointing out that we need a good administration that addresses the challenges in the water file and works to find solutions to this file.

He indicated that the Presidency of the Republic decided to form a body to study the water file and to help implement the plans set by the relevant ministries in this regard, indicating that the responsibility rests with everyone, especially to reduce waste in water and prevent abuses of water quotas.

Regarding prisoners and detainees, Rashid confirmed that the Presidency of the Republic is interested in reviewing the files of prisoners and detainees for the purpose of reviewing them and studying the circumstances of their cases.

In his speech, the President referred to the issue of corruption and the need to fight it by everyone, pointing out that the government’s program is a good program and the Prime Minister is interested in implementing it and has started with actual steps.

Rashid’s speech also dealt with the political situation in Iraq, stressing the need to work to bring points of view closer, especially since the outstanding issues are not complicated and can be resolved according to the law and the constitution, by speeding up the approval of pending laws such as the oil and gas law.

He touched on the file of the displaced people who are suffering today from bad conditions, stressing the importance of concerted efforts and humanitarian endeavors in order to secure their return to their areas of residence after rehabilitating the infrastructure and providing an appropriate security environment, adding that we believe in a strong Iraq economically and politically, and we believe in human rights, and we are proud of Iraq’s history and civilization.

The President of the Republic also spoke about his participation in the Arab summit conferences in Algeria and the climate conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, indicating that the Arab and foreign leaders, whom he met on the sidelines of the two summits, want Iraq to return to playing its vital role in the region because it is a stabilizing factor, as they expressed their willingness to coordinate and cooperate with Iraq in all fields.

In another aspect of the conversation, the President touched on his recent visit to the Basra Governorate, and the meetings he held during the visit stations, indicating that for him it was a real opportunity to listen to people’s concerns, demands and needs, stressing his desire to visit all the governorates to see their conditions closely.
