Trump Raises Global Tariffs from 10% to 15% Following Supreme Court Ruling

Washington: President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he will increase the temporary global tariff rate on imported goods from 10% to 15%, following a US Supreme Court ruling against tariffs imposed under an economic emergency law.

According to Emirates News Agency, President Trump had initially set a 10% global tariff after the Supreme Court ruled his administration's reciprocal tariffs illegal. In a 6-3 decision, the court determined that Trump had overstepped his legal authority by imposing broad tariffs without explicit approval from Congress.

In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump criticized the court's decision as "ridiculous" and "poorly written." He declared that, effective immediately, the global tariff on imports would be raised to 15%, asserting this level to be "fully allowed, and legally tested." Trump emphasized that many countries have taken advantage of the US for decades without retribution, a situation he claims to have addressed during his presidency.
