Tuvalu seeking continued collaboration with UAE in energy sectors

SHARJAH: Tuvaluan Minister for Transport, Energy, Communication, and Innovation Simon Kofe, underscored the significance of continued collaboration with Emirati experts, acknowledging the UAE's global prominence in diverse sectors, particularly emerging economies, innovation, and creativity. In statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) during the ongoing 13th edition of the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF 2024), held in Sharjah from September 4 to 5, the minister noted that his country seeks to bolster cooperation with the UAE in energy security and to leverage advanced technologies to assist Tuvalu's transition to renewable energy, aligning with Tuvalu's ambitious goal of achieving 100% renewable energy reliance. He emphasised the UAE's substantial support for Tuvalu's solar energy initiatives, expressing a keenness to expand this partnership into other domains, including training and developing the capacity of Tuvalu's personnel in various fields, including diplomacy. Regarding the IGCF 2024, the minister emphasised the value of gleaning insights from the experiences of diverse participating countries, which can significantly contribute to refining Tuvalu's approach to government communication.
