UAE Air Defences Successfully Intercept 165 Ballistic Missiles and 541 Drones Amid Iranian Attack

Abu dhabi: The Ministry of Defence has announced that the UAE air force and air defence forces have so far dealt with 165 ballistic missiles, two cruise missiles, and 541 Iranian drones since the start of the Iranian attack.

According to Emirates News Agency, the ministry reported that on the morning of the second day of the attack, UAE air forces destroyed 20 ballistic missiles, while eight missiles fell into the sea. They also successfully intercepted two cruise missiles and 311 drones, although 21 drones managed to strike civilian targets.

The ministry detailed that since the onset of the Iranian attack on 28th February, 2026, 165 ballistic missiles were detected, with 152 intercepted and destroyed, while 13 plunged into sea waters. In addition to this, two cruise missiles were detected and neutralized. A significant number of drones, totaling 541, were also detected. Of these, 506 were intercepted and destroyed, while 35 drones fell within the UAE, leading to material damage.

The incidents resulted in the tragic loss of three lives, with fatalities reported among Pakistani, Nepali, and Bangladeshi nationals. Additionally, there were 58 minor injuries reported among individuals from a diverse range of nationalities, including Emirati, Egyptian, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese, and Afghan residents.

The ministry further indicated that debris from intercepted ballistic missiles and drones fell in several areas across the country, causing minor to moderate material damage to civilian properties. The Ministry of Defence affirmed its readiness to address any future threats, emphasizing that the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors remains a non-negotiable priority.
