New Delhi:Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) of the UAE, and Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, met during the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum in New Delhi to discuss strengthening their countries' strategic partnership.
According to Wam, the discussions focused on enhancing parliamentary cooperation and exchanging views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. Ghobash congratulated Volodin on his re-election and emphasized the importance of expanding UAE-Russia cooperation in various fields.
Both leaders highlighted the significance of reinforcing institutional coordination between the FNC and the State Duma through parliamentary friendship committees, reciprocal visits, and legislative expertise exchanges. Ghobash called for increased collaboration between specialized parliamentary committees, particularly in economic, technological, and energy sectors, and noted the potential for expanding cooperation in these areas.
Volodin praised the robust UAE-Russia relations, which have continued to grow despite global challenges. He acknowledged the UAE's diplomatic efforts, especially in mediating prisoner exchanges between Russia and Ukraine, and emphasized the two nations' commitment to strengthening their partnership.
