UAE leaders congratulate President of Sri Lanka on Independence DayAl-Koni discusses with the mayor of Tahala municipality and notables the problems and difficulties that hinder the health and education sectors in the municipality.

ABU DHABI: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a message of congratulations to President Ranil Wickremesinghe of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, on the occasion of his country’s Independence Day.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, also sent similar messages to President Wickremesinghe and Dinesh Gunawardena, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, on the occasion.

Tripoli: During the meeting he held today, Sunday, with the mayor of the municipality of Tahala, the education controller, the health official in the municipality, and notables of the region, the representative of the Presidential Council, Musa Al-Koni, discussed the problems and difficulties that hinder the provision of services to citizens in many fields, especially health and education.

The municipality delegation explained to Al-Koni the weak infrastructure of the education sector, represented by the lack of readiness of schools, the shortage of teachers in a number of specializations, the delay in releasing their salaries, and the inability to solve the problem of teachers in the financial aspect, which negatively affects the progress of the educational process.

The meeting also touched upon, according to the Presidential Council, the decline in health services in the region, which suffers from a shortage of medical and auxiliary personnel and medicines, in addition to the dilapidation of health facili
ties that need maintenance and equipment, and the failure to upgrade a health center to a rural hospital despite numerous correspondence addressed to the Ministry in particular.

Al-Koni assured the delegation of working to overcome the difficulties facing the municipality in coordination with the relevant authorities so that educational and health institutions can carry out their tasks in the service of citizens. He stressed the necessity of establishing spatial development projects in the southern regions in many areas to ensure their stability
