Dubai: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, extended a warm welcome to international guests at the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2025. The event, themed 'Shaping Future Governments', is hosted in Dubai from January 11th to 13th. Over 30 heads of state and government, more than 80 international and regional organizations, 140 government delegations, and over 6,000 attendees are participating in the summit.
According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reiterated the UAE's commitment to supporting international cooperation, emphasizing its dedication to assisting global communities in achieving development goals. His Highness highlighted that these efforts arise from the UAE's belief in the importance of collaborative global work to ensure prosperity and stability for all.
H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed stated: 'We are pleased to welcome the leaders and governments of the world as honoured guests of the UAE. The World Governments Summit offers a global platform for dialogue and the exchange of visions and ideas, at a time when societies are in pressing need of concerted and joint cooperative efforts to confront challenges that cannot be addressed individually.'
H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed added: 'The world is interconnected, and current global transformations will impact us all. The potential for opportunities is great, and our collective strength lies in our unity, our shared vision, and joint efforts to achieve sustainable and equal development for all.'
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum emphasized the UAE's role in promoting meaningful global dialogue. He noted that the increasing international participation in the World Governments Summit solidifies its status as a leading global forum during a period of significant change.
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid added: 'The changes we are witnessing are different, rapid, and comprehensive. Governments need to be increasingly prepared, proactive, and adaptive. The World Governments Summit therefore provides a unified and unique platform for global dialogue, enabling governments to chart a roadmap for progress, prosperity, and inclusive development, keeping pace with current global changes.
The summit's agenda includes over 200 dialogue and interactive sessions led by more than 300 prominent speakers. It will also feature over 30 ministerial meetings and roundtables, including the participation of over 400 ministers. The event will culminate in the release of 30 strategic reports in collaboration with international knowledge partners and research bodies.
WGS 2025 will host 21 global forums focusing on developing strategies and shaping future plans across various sectors. These forums are organized in partnership with international organizations, technology institutions, and leading companies.
Several high-level gatherings will occur, with roundtable meetings bringing together global leaders, government officials, and private sector representatives to enhance international cooperation and find innovative solutions to future challenges.
The summit will focus on six key themes: Effective Governance and Accountability; Financing the Future and the Global Economy; Climate, Crisis Mitigation, and Resilient Cities; Human-centric Futures and Capacity Building; Global Health Transformations; and Emerging Frontiers and the Future.
Furthermore, the summit will present several global awards, including the Best Minister in the World Award, the Creative Government Innovations Award, and the Best Teacher in the World Award, among others. It will also launch the Global Ministers Survey to gather insights from ministers worldwide on critical global issues.
