UAE President Receives Message from Mauritania Amid Regional Tensions

Abu dhabi: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received a written message from Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, focusing on bilateral relations between the two nations. The message was delivered to H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his meeting with Dr Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, Mauritania's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad.

According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting involved discussions on recent regional developments, particularly addressing the unprovoked Iranian attacks on UAE civilian sites using missiles and drones. Both H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and Dr Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug condemned these attacks, highlighting their violation of international law and the UN Charter, posing a direct threat to UAE's security and territorial integrity.

The officials affirmed the UAE's right to respond to these threats in line with international law to safeguard its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its citizens and residents. They also explored strategies to bolster regional and international efforts toward achieving peace and stability in the region.

Additionally, the meeting highlighted the strong fraternal relations between the UAE and Mauritania, discussing avenues to enhance cooperation in various sectors for mutual benefit. H.H. Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the longstanding ties and commitment of both countries to foster collaboration and support their development goals.

The meeting was also attended by Khalifa bin Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, and Sheikh Nahyan bin Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Deputy Minister of State.
