UAE Releases 2025 Anti-Money Laundering Annual Report

Abu Dhabi:The United Arab Emirates announced the release of its 2025 Annual Report on Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism and Proliferation Financing. H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized the country's ongoing efforts to enhance its national system, integrate government entities, and strengthen partnerships with both the private sector and international bodies.

According to Emirates News Agency, the report reviews significant developments in the UAE's anti-money laundering strategy and highlights the progress made in implementing the national strategy. Sheikh Abdullah reiterated the importance of multilateral cooperation, investment in national capabilities, and international partnerships to ensure a secure financial system.

Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the Central Bank, noted the importance of updating legislative frameworks and adopting a risk-based approach to maintain the integrity of the financial system. Federal Decree-Law No. (10) of 2025 was highlighted as a key advancement in enhancing the legislative framework.

Hamid Saif AlZaabi, Secretary-General of the National Committee, reported operational progress in combating financial crimes, emphasizing the use of data and technology to support risk analysis. The implementation of the National Strategy's goals reached a 95 percent completion rate in 2025.

The report outlined updates to the legislative and regulatory framework, the reconstitution of oversight committees, and the development of national policies on various financial crime-related issues. Future priorities include preparation for the Financial Action Task Force's Mutual Evaluation and the UAE's leadership roles in regional financial task forces in 2026.
