UAE Representative Appointed Vice-Chair of Global Coalition’s Advisory Board

Abu Dhabi:Mohamed Shalo, Director of the Strategic Partnerships and Communications Department at the General Secretariat of the National Committee for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism and Proliferation Financing, has been appointed as Vice-Chair of the Advisory Board of the Global Coalition to Fight Financial Crime (GCFFC). This appointment highlights the UAE's commitment to combating financial crime on an international scale.

According to Emirates News Agency, Hamid Saif Al Zaabi, Secretary-General and Vice-Chair of the National Committee for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism and Proliferation Financing, emphasized the expertise and capabilities of Emirati professionals in contributing to global efforts against financial crime. Al Zaabi noted the importance of supporting and developing these professionals to build a sustainable national framework and enhance the UAE's role in international forums.

Xolisile Khanyile, Chair of the GCFFC, praised Mohamed Shalo's expertise in combating financial crime and his ability to build effective partnerships. She expressed her confidence that Shalo's addition to the Advisory Board would advance the Coalition's strategic priorities and overall vision. The Advisory Board is crucial in supporting the Coalition’s strategic direction by providing expert insights and ensuring its initiatives align with current global challenges.

Shalo stated that his appointment reflects the UAE leadership's support for Emirati talent and the nation’s growing presence in international institutions. He highlighted the UAE's institutional expertise in combating financial crime and expressed eagerness to contribute to the Board's efforts in fostering international cooperation and knowledge sharing.

The Global Coalition to Fight Financial Crime, established in 2018, aims to unite public and private sector organizations to strengthen the global response to financial crime. Through its regional chapters and working groups, the Coalition promotes the exchange of information, identifies emerging risks, and supports the development of effective solutions and policies.
