Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Colombia have announced the arrival of humanitarian aid in Colombia, a response to the earthquake that struck the nation on August 10, 2026. This aid is part of a USD 10 million assistance package announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, soon after the disaster. The shipment includes essential food, hygiene supplies, and cleaning products, tailored to the needs identified by Colombian authorities, and sourced from markets in Paraguay.
According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Tareq Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, stated that the shipment's arrival is a significant step in fulfilling the UAE's humanitarian pledge. He emphasized the UAE's solidarity with Colombia and its commitment to aiding the country's recovery and stabilization efforts. Dr. Al Ameri also highlighted the UAE's intention to coordinate closely with Colombian authorities to ensure that aid reaches those in need.
Omar Bula, Colombia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed gratitude for the UAE's support, describing the aid as a testament to the strong friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
