UAE’s Trade with BRICS Nations Surges by 28.5% Amid Strengthening Economic Partnerships

Abu dhabi: Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, highlighted the strategic importance of the UAE's participation in the 18th BRICS Summit held in New Delhi, with a delegation led by H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. This engagement underscores the UAE's active role in a significant global economic and strategic platform.

According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Al Zeyoudi emphasized the UAE's commitment to fostering international cooperation and supporting development and peace initiatives. He revealed that the non-oil trade between the UAE and BRICS countries surpassed US$312 billion last year, marking a 28.5% increase from the previous year and constituting over 30% of the UAE's non-oil trade.

Dr. Al Zeyoudi commended India's successful organization of the summit and the issuance of the "BRICS New Delhi Declaration," which aligns with the group's future-oriented vision. He noted the comprehensive agenda of the summit that addressed a spectrum of economic, technological, social, cultural, and political issues.

Highlighting the significance of bilateral discussions during the summit, Dr. Al Zeyoudi stressed the promising prospects for future economic growth with BRICS nations, which possess expansive markets, youthful demographics, rapidly growing economies, and advanced industrial infrastructures.

He further emphasized the pivotal role of technology and innovation in the BRICS economies, noting that technological advancements and major companies are paving the way for enhanced bilateral cooperation in emerging sectors. The UAE is keen on leveraging these discussions to advance trade facilitation and expand free trade agreements and comprehensive economic partnerships.

Dr. Al Zeyoudi explained that the UAE has proactively strengthened partnerships prior to joining the group, as part of its strategic vision to diversify the economy and open new markets for the UAE private sector. He concluded by affirming the UAE's commitment to multilateralism, dialogue, and international partnerships, contributing to sustainable global growth and prosperity.
