UN official: Unacceptable siege of civilians in Khan Younis should stop

A UN official in Gaza on Thursday expressed worries about intensified fighting near hospitals in Khan Younis, south Gaza Strip.

Persistent attacks on civil sites in Khan Younis are absolutely unacceptable, UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Gaza said, calling for immediate cessation to the Zionist war on the besieged Strip.

Civilians are killed and injured, Tomas White added. With intensified fighting near hospitals and shelters hosing IDPs, the civilians are now besieged inside, and lifesaving operations were stalled.

The situation in Khan Younis proves the failure in terms of respect to the international human law’s basic principles, he added, calling for all precautions to protect civilians, hospitals, clinics, medics and UN facilities as obviously stipulated in the international law.
