UNESCO Recognizes Yanbu Industrial City as an International Learning City

Riyadh, Yanbu Industrial City of Saudi Arabia has been recognized as an global learning city by UN’s top cultural body for its commitment to lifelong learning for its residents and for introducing policies that promote inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable development, it was announced here today.

The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced the entrance of Yanbu Industrial City into its Global Network of Learning Cities, second to selecting Saudi Arabia’s city of Jubail Industrial City to the same award in 2020.

According to the Ministry of Education, the learning cities project is implemented in partnership between its Continuous Education Department and Yanbu Royal Commission and in coordination with the National Committee for Education, Culture and Science aiming to enhance inclusive longlife learning culture inside the society and provide all-out individuals with necessary skills to support citizens to enter labor market in a way that contributes to achieving the objectives of the Kingdom vision 2030.
