University of Sharjah and Shams Forge Partnership to Foster Media Innovation

Sharjah: The University of Sharjah (UOS) and Sharjah Media City (Shams) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing collaboration in media, communications, and public relations to nurture Sharjah’s creative ecosystem.

According to Emirates News Agency, the agreement was signed by Chancellor Professor Esameldin Agamy and Director-General Rashid Abdullah Al Obad. The MoU seeks to expand training opportunities for Emirati talent, support emerging creatives, and enhance knowledge exchange to bolster the UAE’s media landscape, particularly in Sharjah.

Professor Agamy emphasized Shams’s significant role in supporting university programmes, especially within the College of Communication, by providing practical training opportunities and scholarships. He particularly highlighted Shams’s support for the University’s Master of Science in Media Entrepreneurship and Digital Innovation, delivered in partnership with the University of Barcelona, as a standout model of knowledge leadership and global synergy.

Through this collaboration, UOS aims to propel students beyond theoretical learning towards real-world impact, developing media professionals who not only possess knowledge but also craft future narratives. Al Obad noted that Shams remains committed to empowering Emirati experts, embracing young talent, and fostering creativity. The UOS partnership is expected to open new opportunities for media professionals as they navigate rapid industry shifts.

The agreement is anticipated to unlock avenues such as joint educational and media programmes, awareness campaigns, and practical training attuned to the fast-evolving job market. Highlights include talent-spotting events, collaborative applied research into UAE media realities, support for graduation projects, specialized workshops on AI, podcasting, and content creation, as well as shared conferences, exchanges, and potential media innovation labs or incubators to revolutionize teaching and spark sector-wide breakthroughs.
