US Announces Additional $200 Million Military Aid Package for Ukraine

The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced Monday an additional $200 million in military assistance to meet Ukraine’s vital security and defense needs.

In a statement, the Pentagon said that the security assistance includes additional air defense ammunition, artillery ammunition, tanks, anti-tank weapons, and other equipment to help Ukraine confront Russian forces.

The statement indicated that the new assistant package includes additional missiles for the Patriot and HIMARS systems, artillery shells, equipment and systems for mine clearance, tank ammunition, and other types of missiles and other equipment.

Pentagon Press Secretary Pat Ryder said that the United States is working closely with Denmark and other countries to complete the training of Ukrainian fighters on F-16 fighters.

He added that training programs for Abrams tanks are continuing, and that they are committed to delivering the tanks to Ukraine before the end of 2023.

In the statement, the Pentagon stressed that the United States will continue to work with its allies and partners to provide Ukraine with the capabilities needed to meet its immediate battlefield needs and long-term security assistance requirements.
