US Dollar Reaches 17-Month Peak Amidst Consecutive Weekly Gains

Abu Dhabi:The US dollar has climbed to a 17-month high as it approaches the end of its third consecutive week of gains.

According to Emirates News Agency, the dollar index, which compares the US dollar to six other major currencies, reached 102.08, marking a 1 percent increase for the week. This is the first time since May 2025 that the index has shown such a consistent upward trend.

The euro dropped to $1.1237, marking its lowest level since May 2025. The Japanese yen remained stable at 158 yen per dollar, following data indicating that Tokyo's annual core inflation rate accelerated in September at the fastest pace in ten months.

The British pound was at $1.3187, and the Australian dollar fell by 0.18 percent to $0.6918, both nearing their three-month lows. Meanwhile, the New Zealand dollar decreased by 0.22 percent to $0.5591, reaching its lowest point since November 2025.
