WEQAA Launches Farmer Field Schools Across the Kingdom in Cooperation with FAO

– The National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases (WEQAA) has collaborated with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations to launch Farmer Field Schools across different regions of the Kingdom.

According to WEQAA, this initiative is part of the FAO’s Red Palm Weevil (RPW) Eradication Programme in the Near East and North Africa region. WEQAA’s goal is to encourage the adoption of Farmer Field Schools as an integrated approach to managing Red Palm Weevils among farm owners in the Kingdom.

The program’s objective is to empower farmers by enhancing their expertise, fostering self-reliance, and enabling them to make informed decisions. It also aims to improve their ability to identify their needs and priorities and to enhance their efficiency in applying agricultural techniques. Additionally, the program seeks to cultivate a supportive social environment, promote cooperation and teamwork, and address the primary challenges that farmers face by offer
ing practical solutions.
