World Governments Summit Sees Record Participation in 2025

Dubai: The 12th edition of the World Governments Summit will take place in Dubai from 11th to 13th February 2025, under the theme 'Shaping Future Governments'. Record international participation, the largest in the summit's history, is expected this year.

According to Emirates News Agency, Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the World Governments Summit Organisation, highlighted that under the vision and guidance of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the summit has established itself as the world's largest and most influential forum for governments over the past 12 years.

Al Gergawi noted that the summit serves as an annual gathering for global leaders to discuss and strategise on shaping the future, aiming to drive transformative change for sustainable progress. At a dialogue held at the Museum of the Future in Dubai, he emphasised the summit's unique vision focused on proactive future planning and international collaboration.

This year's summit will host over 30 heads of state and government, 80+ international organisations, 140 government delegations, and more than 6,000 participants, including leading global experts. The agenda includes 21 global forums exploring future trends across 200+ interactive sessions, with 300+ prominent figures addressing attendees. Over 30 ministerial meetings and roundtables will result in the release of 30 strategic reports developed with international knowledge partners.

Al Gergawi announced the participation of several world leaders, including Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia, Andrzej Duda of Poland, and Gustavo Francisco Petro Urrego of Colombia, among others. The summit has become a platform for forward-thinking, bringing together leaders, experts, and innovators to collaboratively address global challenges.

Dialogues at the summit will feature heads of international organisations like Kristalina Georgieva of the IMF and Rafael Grossi of the IAEA. Leaders from key global sectors, including technology and finance, such as Sundar Pichai of Google and Joseph Tsai of Alibaba Group, will also participate.

The summit's record-breaking participation includes delegates from every continent and various sectors, aiming to unify governments worldwide for economic and social progress. Notable attendees include President Andry Nirina Rajoelina of Madagascar and Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica, underscoring the summit's commitment to global collaboration.

The summit has outlined six key themes, including Effective Governance and Accountability and Global Health Transformations. Forums will cover topics like the Future of Mobility and Artificial Intelligence. Pre-summit events include the Arab Meeting for Young Leaders.

High-level gatherings and ministerial meetings will discuss digital justice, future investment, and more. The summit will also host the annual TIME100 gathering, aiming to provide a roadmap for governments to navigate transformations and foster international partnerships.

Strategic reports to be launched during the summit will offer innovative solutions for sustainable development. The summit will also present global awards, including the Best Minister in the World Award, and launch the Global Ministers Survey for collaborative insights on global issues.
