World Triathlon Women’s Cup to Feature at Al Mamzar Beach Park

Dubai:Entries are now open for the World Triathlon Women's Cup Dubai, slated to take place at Al Mamzar Beach Park on Sunday, December 6. The event welcomes women of all abilities, ranging from first-time triathletes to elite international competitors.

According to Wam, this is the second World Triathlon Women's Cup globally and the only event entirely dedicated to women. It unites elite athletes and amateurs to compete at the same venue on the same day. The Dubai Sports Council, in partnership with World Triathlon and the UAE Triathlon Federation, organizes the event to celebrate women's strength, determination, and unity while reinforcing Dubai's status as a leading hub for world-class sports.

Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, emphasized the event's significance beyond a single day of racing. He stressed its role as a platform to inspire women's participation in sports, enhance visibility for female athletes as role models, and foster confidence and ambition in various life aspects, including leadership. The event offers races suitable for both experienced and novice triathletes, with options ranging from a Super Sprint to a Sprint category.

Participants aged 18 and over can compete individually or as a relay team of up to three, allowing women to take part with friends, family, or colleagues. Those who prefer not to swim can delegate that portion to a teammate.

Debbie Alexander, Vice President of World Triathlon, expressed delight at the event's return to Dubai, highlighting the unique opportunity for women to compete alongside elite athletes. She thanked the Dubai Sports Council for its dedication to women's triathlon and anticipated the athletes' performances along Al Mamzar Beach Park.

Additionally, Emirati women will race for their own podium, with separate recognition for the top three Emirati finishers in both the individual and team categories.
