Yemen condemns attempt of terrorist Houthi militia targeting Abha airport with a drone

Aden, Yemen has strongly condemned the Iranian-backed terrorist militia’s launch of a drone towards Abha International Airport, resulting in the injury of a number of civilians working at the airport and travelers of different nationalities.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs said that this hostile terrorist attempt targeting a civilian airport which is protected under international humanitarian law constitutes a war crime, confirms the militia’s criminal approach, and violates the international humanitarian law and its customary rules.

The statement, stressed the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities and take a firm stance towards the continuation of these absurd and terrorist actions carried out by the Iranian regime’s militias in the region, and to classify the Houthi militias as a terrorist organization.

The statement reiterated Yemen’s firm and supportive position for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, expressing its solidarity with all the measures it takes to confront these cowardly terrorist acts, preserve the safety of its citizens and expatriates, and protect its vital facilities.

The statement also praised the efficiency and vigilance of the Saudi air defenses, which were able to successfully intercept and destroy the drone.
