4 hospitals in Gaza are out of service, says ministry

The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip confirmed that 4 hospitals were out of service due to direct targeting by the Israeli airstrikes, namely Beit Hanoun, Al-Durra, Al-Karama, and Al-Oyoun International Hospitals. Hospitals suffer from a high bed occupancy rate of 150 per cent, and the injured and patients are sleeping on the floor and corridors of the departments, the ministry said Thursday in a statement. It added, “There is no stock of medicines, medical consumables, and fuel in hospitals.” It pointed out that “medical teams are holding their breath, fearing that they will run out of medicines and medical consumables, many of which have ran out.” The ministry said that hospitals are lacking all medical and fuel capabilities, adding that any delay in bringing medical supplies into Gaza Strip hospitals will lead to the loss of more injured and patients. It called on the international community and its humanitarian institutions to expedite the entry of emergency medical needs into hospitals in the Gaza Strip. It also called on all relevant authorities to protect medical teams, hospitals, ambulances and places of refuge for citizens who were forced by the Israeli aggression to leave their homes.
