A sharp decline in the index of industrial production quantities during February


Ramallah – Ma’an – The Central Bureau of Statistics said that the index of industrial production quantities recorded a sharp decline of 20.52% during the month of February 2024 compared to the month of February 2023, as the index of industrial production quantities decreased to 80.47, compared to 101.24 during the month of February 2023.

The “Statistics” stated in a statement issued today, Wednesday, that compared to the previous month, the index of industrial production quantities recorded an increase of 0.56% during the month of February 2024 compared to the month of January 2024, as the index of industrial production quantities increased to 80.47 during the month of February 2024. Compared to 80.02 during the previous month (base year 2019 = 100).

Water supply, sanitation, waste management and treatment activities recorded an increase of 11.99% compared to last month, whose relative importance constitutes 1.84% of the total industrial activities. Manufacturing industries activities also recorded an incre
ase of 0.61% during the month of February 2024 compared to the previous month, whose relative importance constitutes 87.89%. Of the total industry activities.

As for the sub-activities, which have a large relative impact on the overall index, most manufacturing activities recorded an increase during February 2024 compared to the previous month, the most important of which are; Manufacture of formed metal products other than machinery and equipment, manufacture of other non-metallic metal products, furniture industry, textile industry, paper and paper products industry, beverage industry, clothing industry, and printing and reproduction activity of recorded media.

On the other hand, the index recorded a decrease in some activities, the most important of which are the rubber and plastics products industry, the food products industry, the chemicals and chemical products industry, the tobacco products industry, and the wood and wood products industry.

Mining and quarrying activities also recorded an increase o
f 0.58%, whose relative importance constitutes 2.89% of the total industry activities.

While electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply activities recorded a decrease of 3.25%, whose relative importance constitutes 7.38% of the total industry activities.
