Al Masaood Energy Unveils Locally-Made Third-Generation Solar Technology

Abu Dhabi: Al Masaood Energy is spearheading a new era of solar technology in the UAE by manufacturing third-generation solar systems domestically as part of its ongoing strategy to curb carbon emissions in the oil and gas industry. The company is leveraging the 'Make it in the Emirates' initiative to ensure that 80 percent of the components used in the technology are produced locally.

According to Emirates News Agency, Ibrahim Al Hashidi, Regional Manager of the Renewable Energy Division at Al Masaood Energy, highlighted the significant strides made in the development of this solar technology. He noted that the system offers up to 20 percent greater efficiency compared to global competitors, showcasing the initiative's role in fostering advanced manufacturing capabilities within the country.

A major factor contributing to this success is the ready availability of industrial components in the UAE market. Companies like Emirates Steel and Tiger Steel are key suppliers, providing essential elements such as I-beams for the support structures. These components are manufactured by local companies, including EG-Steel, using steel sourced from Emirates Steel.

The development of this technology allows Al Masaood Energy to construct large-scale solar power stations that can compete on a global scale, thereby enhancing the UAE's stature in the renewable energy manufacturing sector. The initiative not only emphasizes the capability of local industries but also positions the UAE as a leader in the adoption of sustainable and efficient energy solutions.
