Flydubai to Resume Flights to Damascus from 1st June 2025

Dubai: flydubai, the Dubai-based carrier, has announced today the start of direct flights to Damascus from 1st June 2025. Flights to Damascus International Airport (DAM) will operate daily from Terminal 2, Dubai International (DXB).

According to Emirates News Agency, Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, expressed satisfaction in being the first national carrier to resume flights to Syria after a 12-year hiatus. He highlighted Damascus's cultural and historical importance in the region and emphasized the airline's dedication to enhancing regional connectivity through this direct daily service.

Damascus was among flydubai's initial destinations, with service beginning in June 2009. The decision to restart operations follows the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority's (GCAA) announcement earlier this year in April to resume flights between the two countries.

Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, stated that the relaunch of flights will provide passengers from the UAE and beyond with convenient travel options. He noted the collaborative effort with relevant authorities to meet operational standards, expressing anticipation for welcoming passengers back on board, coinciding with the Eid al-Adha holiday and the peak summer travel period.
