Australia, New Zealand, and Canada Call for Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza

Australia, New Zealand, and Canada called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

In a joint statement on Friday, the leaders of the three countries expressed their full support for the comprehensive ceasefire agreement recently proposed by US President Joe Biden and endorsed by the United Nations Security Council.

The statement emphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire, protection of civilians, and the continuous flow of aid throughout Gaza to address the humanitarian situation.

These countries also urged Israel to respond objectively to the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion regarding the illegality of its policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territories.

This statement follows a US affirmation on the necessity of ending the war in Gaza, made during a meeting on Thursday in Washington between US Vice President Kamala Harris, a potential Democratic presidential candidate, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
