CITC Governor: Saudi Arabia keeps pace with changes through opening horizons, enhancing communication with concerned organizations to realize joint goals

Riyadh, Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) Dr. Mohammed Al-Tamimi, during a speech at the World Telecommunication Development Conference, currently held in the Rwandan capital Kigali, stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia enhances the main strategies and goals of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) that call for quick and facilitated access to digital technology for all by 2030, adding that it also provides all available potential to support future trends and guidelines to develop the sector in the union and push it to further development and prosperity for all peoples of the world.

Al-Tamimi said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia keeps pace with the changes that the world is witnessing through opening horizons and enhancing communication with concerned organizations to realize joint goals, through which we seek to create and realize sustainable development, noting that cooperation with partners at ITU through several projects and initiatives, such as the Connect2Recover initiative, we seek to enhance the digital infrastructure in countries affected by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

He noted that preparing and developing the digital infrastructure and providing it with the latest global technologies in an effective and practical way with a method that keeps pace with the accelerating changes around us make the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia assume an advanced status among G20 countries through ranking second in the digital competitiveness and ninth globally at the level of digital capabilities, in addition to the fact that the Saudi digital market is the biggest and fastest growing market in the Middle East and North Africa.

He also stressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s attention and concern in developing human capabilities that represent a main trend and one of the most prominent targets of the Saudi Vision 2030, adding that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in partnership with ITU, seeks to develop and offer qualitative programs for member states.

The governor noted that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, since it joined ITU in 1949 and its council in 1965, has been offering its human potential and experiences to support its activities and was keen to participate in its various events, voicing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s keenness to continue its efforts in helping the union and going on with keeping pace with developments and changes through its intention to run for the elections of membership of the ITU council and membership of radio lists committee during the upcoming Plenipotentiary Conference.
