LONDON: City moved to the top of the Premier League with a hard-fought 1-0 win over struggling Southampton.
Erling Haaland’s goal after just five minutes proved enough to settle a frustrating game that the Blues dominated, but could never quite put to bed.
The victory takes the Blues above Liverpool to the summit of the Premier League, at least for 24 hours, as well as extending our unbeaten league run to 32.
In other ties, Aston Villa drew 1-1 with Bournemouth, taking their points tally to 18, placing them third. Bournemouth now has 12 points, sitting in tenth place.
Brentford defeated Ipswich Town 4-3 at Griffin Park, bringing their points to 13, putting them in ninth place. Ipswich Town remain on 4 points, in seventeenth position.
Brighton drew 2-2 with Wolverhampton at the Amex Stadium. Brighton now has 16 points, placing them fifth, while Wolverhampton has 2 points, in nineteenth place.
