Delegation of Ministerial Committee Assigned by Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit Holds Meeting with EU Foreign Affairs Council


Brussels, The members of the Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit under the chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, held a meeting on May 27, 2024, with the European Union Foreign Affairs Council. The committee members who participated in the meeting were the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Dr. Ayman Al-Safadi, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry.

During the meeting, they discussed the dangerous developments in the Gaza Strip and the Israeli occupation’s ongoing military aggression, which targets unarmed civilians. This includes the recent and appalling targeting of the tents of displaced Palestinians near the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Work
s Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) northwest of Rafah.

The members of the Ministerial Committee stressed the need for the international community to fulfill its responsibility to intervene immediately to stop the massacres committed by the Israeli occupation forces and to limit the aggravation of the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe that the Palestinian people are experiencing.

The members of the committee reiterated the importance of creating serious political conditions for the establishment of a Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the relevant international resolutions, expressing their rejection of dividing the Palestinian issue and discussing the future of the Gaza Strip in isolation from the Palestinian issue.

The members of the committee also called for confronting all flagrant violations committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people, which increase the human tragedy and impede the entry of ur
gent humanitarian aid into the besieged Gaza Strip, stressing the importance of holding the occupation accountable for the ongoing violations in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, which violates international law and international humanitarian law.
