Dubai Gaming Committee Holds First Meeting to Propel Future-Ready Gaming Sector

Dubai: The Dubai Gaming Committee, a newly established entity under the Dubai Media Council, held its inaugural meeting to chart a strategic path for the development of Dubai's gaming sector. This initiative marks the beginning of a concerted effort to build a competitive and forward-thinking gaming ecosystem in the emirate, aligning with Dubai's broad objective to enhance its creative economy and establish itself as a leader in emerging media sectors on the global stage.

According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting concentrated on creating a dynamic and innovation-driven industry by formulating flexible policies, establishing regulatory frameworks, and building robust infrastructure. The discussions underscored the importance of fostering collaboration between government bodies, industry stakeholders, and private sector partners to ensure the sustainable growth of the gaming sector.

Nehal Badri, Secretary-General of the Dubai Media Council, highlighted the potential of gaming as a pivotal growth area in Dubai's media landscape. Badri stated that the Dubai Gaming Committee aims to align policy, infrastructure, and industry requirements to foster an innovative environment that nurtures talent and supports sustainable long-term growth. This initiative reflects Dubai's dedication to cultivating globally competitive creative industries with significant economic and social impact.

The Committee also assessed Dubai's strategic advantages as a hub for gaming development, including its advanced digital infrastructure, adaptable regulatory environment, strong logistics capabilities, and strategic geographic location. These elements are crucial for attracting international game developers, publishers, investors, and specialized talent to the region.

Khalfan Belhoul, Chairman of the Dubai Gaming Committee, emphasized the Committee's commitment to translating vision into actionable and measurable results. The focus is on developing strong talent pipelines, specialized training programs, and fostering partnerships to strengthen public-private collaboration across the gaming value chain. The ultimate goal is to position Dubai as one of the world's most competitive gaming hubs.

The Dubai Gaming Committee was established following Dubai Media Council Resolution No. (9) of 2025, issued by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council. The Committee is tasked with fostering partnerships, supporting sector growth, identifying and empowering young talent, supporting startups, and contributing to the advancement of Dubai's digital economy and its leadership in the gaming sector both regionally and globally.

The meeting was attended by various key figures, including Hesham Al Olama, Vice-Chairman of the Committee; Ahmed AlKhaja from the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism; Shaima Al Suwaidi from the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority; Brigadier Dr. Mansoor Alrazooqi from Dubai Police; Hanan Ahmed from du; Ahmad Hamza from Dubai Multi Commodities Centre; Eisa Al Marzooqi from Dubai Sports Council; and Abdulla AlGaoud from Dubai Chambers.
