Endowment and Society Conference Concludes in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi: The Endowment and Society Conference concluded today after two days of activities that ran under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court. The event was organised by the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, at Erth Hotel, Abu Dhabi. According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, highlighted that the conference's theme aligns with the 'Year of the Community'. He emphasized the aim to mobilize efforts and resources while encouraging collaboration between individuals and societal institutions to foster an environment conducive to sustainable development, responsibility, and national progress. Sheikh Nahyan addressed the guests of the UAE President, highlighting their presence as a reflection of the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He noted the conference's theme coincides with the initiative by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, focusing on the 'Father's Endowment' initiative, which honors the noble teachings of Islam. Sheikh Nahyan further remarked that the UAE serves as a model in the fields of endowments and charitable work, grounded in principles established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. These principles are echoed in President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's vision for active participation by individuals and societal institutions in the nation's comprehensive development. Shaikh Abdullah bin Bayyah, Chairman of the UAE Council for Fatwa, emphasized that endowments embody Islamic Sharia's wisdom in fostering cooperation and supporting those in need. He noted that endowments act as a reserve for future generations and provide ongoing charity for donors. Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, affirmed the role of endowments as a societal lifeline, serving both Mu slims and non-Muslims. The conference included an Endowment Exhibition, showcasing the history and development of endowments in the UAE. The exhibition highlighted various stages of growth, regulatory laws, and the role of endowments in the UAE's history. The event was attended by prominent figures including Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Shaikh Abdullah bin Bayyah, Dr. Omar Habtoor Al-Darei, and Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, along with distinguished scholars, officials from Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and experts in endowment affairs.
